Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Good Lives, and the Alliance: Putting it All Together in Practice

This chapter examines the direct application of evidence-based and evidence-informed approaches to a case example of an individual with a history of complex trauma and sexual abuse of children. The approaches applied in this case include: Each of these approaches have gained recognition and become increasingly widespread in the past twenty years. However, in the author’s experience, their increasing use has also meant that they are often misunderstood and misapplied. This chapter discusses some common misunderstandings of each.
