Data Governance for Research Using Sensitive Data
摘要
Research in Epidemiological Criminology is of significant societal importance but is fraught with challenges. For example, individuals with sexual convictions are often vilified by society and are themselves vulnerable to abuse due to the impact of their offending. Risk mitigation and management is imperative for both the researcher and participant. There are also difficulties in building or obtaining detailed datasets due to the risk of identification of individuals or victim, for example through newspaper reports. However, the last ten years have seen substantial advances in both technical solutions and governance frameworks to manage the most sensitive data. This chapter provides an overview of methods, risk factors, and solutions to the practicalities of research on such sensitive topics.
