This chapter will discuss the current literature on Epidemiological Criminology (EpiCrim) and why it is important in shaping the way that professionals frame preventing and responding to sexual abuse and sexual exploitation. An EpiCrim approach combines public health, health, and criminology to allow professionals to view offending, and people who commit offences, through a series of lens’ (individual, interrelationship, community, and society) that allows several preventive and reactive harm reduction techniques to be used in reducing (re)offending, community safety and public protection. The chapter will discuss research, policy and practice in this area.
