Over the millennia, humankind has learned to better understand and shape the world we live in. The power we have acquired through science and technology has enabled us to feed over seven billion people, develop antibiotics to fight bacterial infections, travel to the moon, and create artificial intelligence, to just name a few breakthroughs. However, this same power now also threatens our existence in unprecedented ways, whether through nuclear war, uncontrolled effects on the global atmosphere, or engineered pandemic pathogens. The advancements of digital artificial intelligence make us wonder what truly defines our humanity. Simultaneously, we are witnessing a new level of global conflict, not only between autocratic governments and democracies, but also within democracies themselves and increased polarization of political forces is disrupting societies.
