Exploring the Foundations of Artificial Intelligence in Secondary Education – A Workshop-Based Study
摘要
Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a crucial topic, influencing not only private and professional life but also the field of education. Students and teachers alike are confronted with various AI-related challenges, including the responsible use of AI tools, ethical considerations, and the implications of AI on teaching and learning. In this study, we investigate how teachers perceive their role in this evolving landscape and how a targeted workshop can support them in understanding AI fundamentals and ethical concerns. Through a combination of pre- and post-assessments, we examine changes in teachers’ knowledge, attitudes, and confidence in addressing AI-related topics in the classroom. The results provide insights into teachers’ needs and the effectiveness of AI-focused professional development in a 3-hour workshop setting. We found that teachers’ self-efficacy regarding AI and the confidence to discuss ethical implications improved through the workshop.
