Objective: To determine the trend of use of different types of media, in press trips, used for tourism promotion in Peru, between 2012 and 2019, in order to project the hierarchy of these and trend of use in the coming years. Method: a non-experimental, cross-sectional study was executed during the years 2012–2019, explanatory, with a qualitative and quantitative approach. Here, 487 press trips carried out by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) were analyzed. These results were contrasted with the answers to the question about which means most influence the decision to travel to Peru, included in the Foreign Tourist Profile, prepared by the same government entity. Results: It was determined that the trend is that the influencers and social networks they use will be in the future the most used means to promote the destination Peru, which is consistent with the orientation of influence in the travel decision. Conclusions: The execution of trips with influencers should be prioritized to promote the destination Peru. On the other hand, it is also suggested, as a new strategy, to make trips with the content creators of the web pages of the main foreign travel agencies, in the priority markets for the country, since such websites have influence on the travel decision.
