This chapter provides potential considerations that residents may want to think about when they plan to have a child during internal medicine residency, during pregnancy, and after the child is born. It reflects the thoughts of the authors and is not intended to be a comprehensive review of this vast and extremely important topic. It is also important to note that each year of residency (and parenting!) presents its own opportunities for growth, and there is not one person or article that can provide every piece of information needed.
