Educating Beyond the Bedside: The Hospitalist’s Role in Leadership, Clinical Teaching, and Systems-Based Care
摘要
This chapter highlights the imperative for hospitalists to teach skills that encompass not only clinical reasoning but also a diverse range of competencies essential for modern healthcare practice. It explores the application of ACGME Milestones 2.0 within the inpatient education setting to guide teaching, evaluate thought processes, and assess learners’ progression. Furthermore, it discusses the importance of modeling professionalism in multidisciplinary settings and teaching systems-based practice principles, including a focus on care transitions, quality improvement, patient safety, EHR education, and healthcare policy awareness. This chapter underscores the pivotal role of hospitalists as bridging leaders who integrate education into hospital-level initiatives.
