Financing and Investment in a Circular Economy: Paving the Way for Sustainable Growth
摘要
Environmental deterioration and drastic climate change have forced economies worldwide to make a transition towards green growth by adopting practices of circular economy. The paradigm shift towards the adoption of the circular economy concepts however necessitates the use of contemporary financial instruments to facilitate strategic reforms. The chapter provides a detailed analysis of the varied financial and investment needs, hurdles, and blockages in its adoption and the future prospects that lead to the adoption of sustainable practices thereby promoting growth that not only generates wealth but is also sustainable and green. The chapter highlights the concept of a circular economy in the globalized world along with highlighting the financial and investment incentives that promote green growth. The chapter also provides varied measures that can help in effective waste management along with building a sound infrastructure thereby enhancing resource efficiency and satisfying the multiple goals addressing the three P’s—People, Planet, and Profit. The chapter emphasizes the significance of transitioning from the conventional linear ‘take-make-dispose’ paradigm to a regenerative and restorative approach to production and consumption.
