Cities are the localities where the majority of the world’s population is concentrated and are also responsible for activities that directly impact global sustainability. Their ability to innovate and adapt to new contexts can suggest new concepts to define them, such as ‘Smart Cities’. Observing these modifications and adaptations to new contexts, this study is dedicated to analysing the congruence of the characteristics of the city of Campina Grande, Brazil through the sectors of a Smart City. For this purpose, an evaluation model for Smart Cities, aligned with the SDGs and the COVID-19 pandemic experienced from 2020 onwards in the locality, is applied. The main results demonstrate alignment with important sectors for Smart Cities such as ICTs and Education, Culture, Innovation and Science. However, it also shows misalignment with sectors such as energy, natural environment, and built environment. The evaluation enables the development of actions and policies to improve city services and provide greater benefits to the population residing there.
