Survey on Drone and UAV Forensics
摘要
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are increasingly being utilized for various purposes, such as aerial photography, environmental monitoring, and military applications. As their usage grows, the likelihood of requiring a digital forensic investigation related to UAV activities—whether for accidents, incidents, or their presence in specific locations—also rises. In response, both industry and academia have developed guidelines and publications addressing the forensic investigation of UAV systems. This chapter focuses on exploring the academic contributions to UAV forensics. In this chapter, we conduct a systematic review of the existing UAV forensics literature to identify and document emerging research trends related to the digital forensic analysis of UAV incidents, accidents, and crimes. First, it provides a taxonomy categorizing previous work on UAV forensic artifacts, frameworks, models, forensic readiness, and tools employed in UAV investigations. Finally, this chapter outlines critical research themes that have yet to be fully explored. Furthermore, it offers a roadmap for advancing UAV forensic investigations in the future. This chapter is adopted from [1].
