A New Image Crypto-Compression Scheme Using Hybrid Approach with DWT and ECC for Emerging IoT Applications
摘要
Today, multimedia content is widely used in several applications with the emerging of the Internet of Things. A digital image is one of the most commonly used forms of multimedia and their usage has exhibited an exponential growth in recent years. However, the need for securing digital images has become more pressing due to this increase in usage. Several cryptographic systems have been put in place to address this issue, but an effective and secure solution is required because IoT devices have limited power, processing capability, and network bandwidth. The proposed solution involves using elliptic curve cryptography (ECC), which is well-suited for such devices. Along with cryptographic systems, compression techniques can also be employed to enhance digital image security. Compression reduces the size of the image, making it easier to store and transmit securely. This research suggests an efficient solution for securing digital images by using ECC-encryption and compression techniques. This process provides a sequence of steps by compressing the input image using the discrete wavelet transforms algorithm, then using the ECC algorithm to encrypt the compressed data. After that, the cipher image is scrambled using Rubik’s cube to achieve fast confusion. The simulation outcomes demonstrate that the suggested method provides high protection for different transmitted images. Moreover, the joint use of multiple techniques can achieve the highest performance, which makes it an effective approach for securing transmitted images in a wide range of IoT fields.
