Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative technology with the potential to revolutionize the decision-making process. To fully investigate the integration of AI in decision-making and its implications, we performed a thematic literature review. We selected 79 articles from an initial pool of 4,645 papers. These articles underwent a quality assessment to identify papers that are more relevant to explore the research contexts and themes related to AI and decision-making. The findings reveal four key themes, including the Role of Artificial Intelligence in Enhancing the Decision-Making process, the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Decision-Making Processes, AI’s Ability to Transform Consumer Decision-Making Processes, and AI’s ethical dimensions and implications for society. Thus, this review provides valuable insights to academics and practitioners willing to assess the advancements of AI in decision-making, its influence on societal dynamics, and ethical concerns. Finally, this study advocates for further empirical evidence, investigation of specific ethical issues, and effective strategies for incorporating AI into decision-making processes to improve the quality of human judgment.
