Microbial Analysis of Soil and Their Significance in Forensic Science
摘要
Forensic microbiology is a vast and rapidly growing field that plays a crucial role in solving many criminal cases. One of the interesting and predominant areas of focus within this field is microbial soil forensics, which mainly focuses on soil microbes for evidential analysis and helps in increasing the creditability of soil as trace evidence which is found almost in every crime scene. By studying the unique characteristics and patterns of microbial communities in the soil sample, forensic scientists can provide evidence such as area or location of the crime happened, post-mortem interval of the deceased, reason for the death, and link between the suspect and the crime scene which helps in solving many cases. With the recent advancements in molecular technology, the analysis of microbes can be done with unprecedented accuracy, ensuring the reliability and precision of evidence. In this review, we will delve deeper into the significance of microbial techniques which can be used in forensic science and provide an overview of the fascinating case scenarios where they can be applied.
