Sustainable Approach to E-Waste: Integrating Phytoremediation in the Management of E-Waste Dumping Sites
摘要
In a growing technology era, The growing utilisation of electric and electronic appliances leads to the higher load in electronic waste. Electronic waste is discarded for a complete electronic product or in component form. Technology advancement, availability of electronics is much easier which originated the issue of e-waste. Toxic heavy metals (HMs) were emerging from Electric waste that can be unfit for people’s health and environment. Those heavy metals accumulate in plants and affect normal functioning of the natural ecosystem. Most of the well-developed nations majorly export most Of their electronic trash to growing countries, in growing countries the electronic trash ends up in landfills and dumping sites. Chemical and physical methods also used but they are bit expensive and simultaneously hazardous, there is a need of safe replacement methods for treatment of e-wastes such as phytoremediation it is the natural method for removal of (HMs) from the soil this process is done in few stages such as Phyto stabilization, rhizofilteration, phytoextraction and phytovolatilization. It is a new technology that is mostly used and regarded as economical, efficient and unique and being environment friendly. Therefore, this review discusses different strategies and natural approaches for the akin away of the various heavy metal’s contaminants from the environment, with the implication of phytoremediation. Moreover, effects of heavy metals and steps of phytoremediation that are used in removal of HMs, and have also been discussed.
