In the past decades, environmental monitoring has witnessed a marked increase in both frequency and relevance. This field of analysis depends on advanced, self-governing sensors continually gauging subjects’ states, conveying live or almost-live information. Establishment of proper environmental monitoring systems is very important for investigating the health of ecosystems, but challenging as numerous influences necessitate quantifying across areas, durations. While forensic analytical techniques play an important role in environmental investigations, especially regarding source attribution and chronological determination, the full promise remains unfulfilled. These methodologies encompass chemical profiling, corrosion modeling, elucidation of chemical associations with equipment, and modeling of pollutant transport. 摘要

Biosensors in recent years have gained considerable attention for their potential to monitor environmental toxins owing to enhanced specificity, sensitivity, affordability, user-friendliness, environmental compatibility, portability, and capability for real-time, remote monitoring. Despite proliferation of biosensors tailored for detection, novel sustainable designs warrant exploration. The highest impact lies at the intersection of disciplinary strengths: analytical chemistry and environmental engineering working in concert towards remediation guided by a shared goal of restoring balance to ecosystems compromised by an array of waste streams.
