This paper is aimed at finding the annual variation of malaria prevalence among children under the age of five (U5), persons above 5 years old (5+) and the pregnant women (PW) in Kano metropolis between (2014–2022). Data was sourced from the medical record department of the selected healthcare facilities for patients already admitted in the hospitals, for the period between (2014–2022), 9 years. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Malaria prevalence in the study area was examined for any significant variation using multi variate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and Moran’s Index tool. The test result clearly showed the presence of significant temporal variation of malaria prevalence among the three variables or population groups. Square-based temporal cluster analysis was made in order to pinpoint malaria hotspot years and seasons with the highest incidences. Tables, graphs and chats were produced to present the result. The outcome of the result obtained so far, indicated the existence of significant variation for malaria prevalence across the years under review. The study area constituted by eight local government areas earmarked for the study include: Dala, Fagge, Gwale, Kano Municipal, Kumbotso, Nassarawa, Tarauni and Ungogo LGAs respectively. The study however, recommends that more preventive and curative measures such as proper environmental sanitation facilities, distribution of treated mosquito nets (TMN) and anti-malaria drugs be provided among the residents of the area, also sensitization campaign to create awareness on the critical health impact of malaria disease among the resident of the area should be embarked upon by the government. Also, policy makers in collaboration with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) should intensify efforts and commitments towards providing more health care facilities across the region.
