Biodiversity refers to the variability in living things from terrestrial, marine, and aquatic environments, including their genetic variations, habitats, and ecological processes. Millions worldwide advocate for its preservation, with organizations like WWF, Nature Conservancy, and Royal Society for the Protection of Birds supporting conservation strategies. Bird diversity is influenced by the diversity of vegetation layers and the uniformity of foliage distribution. Agriculture provides a concentrated food source for birds, but less than 1% are primarily found in agricultural areas. Open water attracts birds for roosting, bathing, and protection. The study surveyed the village Poharka, located near Ellenabad, and its surrounding areas, highlighting the importance to understand bird diversity in conservation efforts. Birds are multifunctional elements of ecosystems, serving as pollinators, scavengers, dispersers of seeds, predators of seeds, and ecosystem engineers. Domesticated and nondomesticated species offer provisioning services, and bird watching is a popular outdoor recreational pursuit. The survey identified 9 different orders and 19 different families. Bird survey in the Sirsa district of Haryana, India, identifies 87 bird species from 39 families and 16 orders. The Passeriformes order is the most diverse, with the insectivorous guild dominating all habitats. Our study in Poharka, Sirsa, Haryana, found 22 distinct bird species from 9 orders and 19 families. Passeriformes was the most common order.
