Micro and Nano Plastic in Plastic Beverage Containers: Intimidating Remark for Human Health

It is alarming that more and more items intended for human consumption are contaminated with micro- and nano plastics, and it is ambiguous how these substances may affect human health. Since people are constantly exposed to these anthropogenic pollutants through their oral intake, studies on plastic packaged beverages (e.g., carbonated drinks, bottled drinking water, flavored drinks) have garnered scientific emphasis and constitute a significant component of microplastic research. To accurately measure micro- and nano plastic particles and determine their origins and properties, expedient and effective detection techniques are essential. There are now a number of methods being used to assess microplastics in packaged drinks; however, it is difficult to compare the results and establish standards due to the significant variations in these methods and data gathering. By providing a comprehensive knowledge of the impacts on human health and the environment, together with innovative technical techniques for locating and assisting sources of plastic pollution, the present study aims to solve these problems. All things considered, this study will function as a starting point for the harmonization of micro- and nano plastic monitoring initiatives and as a guide for future studies centered on drinking goods meant for human consumption.
