Determinants and Dynamics of Rural Livelihood in Purulia District, West Bengal

The livelihoodLivelihood approach is a very significant perspective of developmental studies, which strongly influences development-oriented research, including socio-economicSocio-economic and regional development. LivelihoodsLivelihood encompass an individual's activities and resources to earn a living and the broader context of assets, capabilities, and opportunities that support their well-being and day-to-day living. By acknowledging the varied circumstances across different regions and communities, the livelihoodLivelihood approach concerns a deeper understanding of the interconnected factors that shape the well-being of an individual, householdHousehold, or community. In this vein, the present work focuses on the livelihoodLivelihood study of the ruralRural people of the Purulia district from different perspectives, such as LivelihoodLivelihood Dependency, Income Diversity, and LivelihoodLivelihood Adjustment. The primary level survey collects data for the present investigation. Different statistical techniques are used for the data analysis. The result reveals that in Purulia, the livelihoodLivelihood dependency of ruralRural people is mainly dependent on primary-level activities, and a significant relation is there between the livelihoodLivelihood adjustment and livelihoodLivelihood level.
