The research emphasizes the important impact that online reviews (OR) have in influencing consumer decisions, boosting company reputation, and boosting sales by examining previous studies and business reports. It specifically looks at how favorable evaluations can increase sales and client loyalty while harming profitability and turning off potential clients. The results highlight how important it is for companies to regularly respond to and monitor internet evaluations in order to preserve their competitive edge and boost overall performance. However, this study shows that the opinions of hotel managers, star ratings, and hotel capacity are crucial to increasing the amount of online guest reviews, since managers who are aware of the perceptions of guests’ online reviews can better satisfy their needs and desires. The number of stars assigned to a hotel can be used as a gauge for the kind of experience that guests are looking for as well as an outside confirmation of their high standards are therefore essential in figuring out how customers view quality and what they expect from travel agents. Use as a catch-all for quality assurance, decision-making, and setting expectations for customers before they come. A hotel’s ability to meet or surpass these expectations ultimately depends on factors other than its star rating, like attentive service, upkeep, and the total guest experience. It is important to recognize that different people may have different ideas about what quality is. Managers who evaluate the services provided to guests must understand what their clients want in terms of quality of service. We should ask management about their perceptions of the performance of their businesses in order to ascertain how close or far their hotels are from the expectations of their patrons. Hotel managers typically have complicated definitions of success that are influenced by the particular goals and tenets of their organization may also include factors like profitability, employee morale, and environmental initiatives that don’t necessarily match up neatly with star ratings. This study aims to fill a theoretical gap on the relationship between the evaluations of the managers of each hotel in the Douro Valley and the quality expectations of guests, determined by the impressions created by the ratings of the hotels and their capacity. All hotels in the Douro Valley with ratings from 1 to 5 are included in our sample. Professionals can use the suggested approach to improve the quality of their services, as well as the success strategies to be developed, and policymakers can use it to encourage territorial development in the wine region.
