Drowsiness is one of the many leading causes of death and injury in tragic road accidents all around the world. However, its early indicators such as weariness, fatigue, or microsleep should be noticed earlier before any catastrophic accidents occur. Thus, a driver drowsiness alert system was developed to detect driver drowsiness. However, detecting drowsiness in extreme lighting situations may develop a problem as the image captured may generate much noise thus, delaying the alert reaction time to the driver. This paper will initiate an upturn on those drawbacks with the aid of adaptive gamma reduction with weighting distribution.
