The low harmonics home charging electric vehicle battery charger for DC drive electric car that makes use of multi-level rectifier, zero crossing, and buck chopper is discussed in this paper. The emphasis is on zooming circuits which consist of voltage divider, offset, subtraction, amplifier circuits and embedded controller. It is used to improve the battery voltage charging performance in close loop feedback control. MATLAB/Simulink software simulates and tests the circuit and its control algorithm. The results suggest that the zooming circuit improves the battery charging voltage in closed loop control.
