The traditional Chinese concept of rural areas and modernity have jointly given birth to the narrative of “nostalgia” and new aesthetic concepts in contemporary science fiction literature. Homesickness is endowed with richer narrative connotations and aesthetic features through the medium of science fiction novels. On the one hand, the narrative of nostalgia in Chinese science fiction novels has expanded the traditional rural literature's pastoral memories and praises. Science fiction novels use temporal and spatial techniques to construct a narrative and aesthetic of nostalgia in the post human and spatialized eras from the postmodern era, forming a unique style of rural nostalgia. On the other hand, nostalgia in science fiction is criticized, beautified, and constructed, ultimately using nostalgia as an aesthetic approach and spirit, and providing a new literary coding form for building a community with nostalgia as the core category.
