Dancing Natural Sciences is an aesthetic dance and science teaching method drawing on the (kin)aesthetic experience of science subject content, asserting the primary work of the senses in being in, perceiving and learning about the world, prior to and enabling thinking, interpreting and understanding. Relating to everyday life experience, questions are asked about how things in the natural world hang together, in space, water and the air, triggering wonder and existential aspects of being a part of it all. In the method dance offers a channel for an aesthetic dialogue with the natural world. In meta-talks the science content is discussed in subject-specific language and formalised in definitions, physical axioms and chemical formulas. Dance creates a space of learning, visualises subject knowledge and concept formation: dance teaches physics, chemistry and astronomy, while offering space to experience relational and existential aspects of humankind’s efforts to find answers to eternal scientific questions.
