I could fill a dozen books with the various critiques of the theories of ratio discussed in the previous chapter. Time precludes this endeavour, however, even if it did not, I am inclined to take a more optimistic perspective—how can we draw from these constructions: the ratio as the spirit of cases, a drawing in the air, and the arch of a bridge? How can Brazilian Law benefit from these many pages of Common Law tradition?
