Adopting Digital Technologies in the Circular Economy: Strategies to Improve Environmental Resilience
摘要
This chapter explores how digital technologies can drive the transition from a linear to a circular economy, addressing the gap in understanding their role in enhancing environmental resilience. The study examines the adoption of technologies such as AI (Artificial Intelligence), Cloud Computing, Big Data, IoT (Internet of Things), and Blockchain within circular economy strategies. The arguments presented in this chapter highlight how these technologies optimize resource use, minimize waste, and foster sustainable innovation. Key findings reveal that blockchain improves traceability, AI enhances resource management, and IoT supports innovative business models, contributing to the synergy between biological and technical cycles. By integrating production chains and keeping materials in circulation longer, these technologies enhance the resilience of economic ecosystems. This chapter also demonstrates how digital transformation could overcome environmental challenges and creates competitive advantages and new business opportunities, contributing to a more sustainable global society.
