The circular economy (CE) has emerged as a transformative approach, aiming to optimize resource utilization, minimize waste, and foster long-term economic and environmental resilience. This paper explores the evolution, principles, and growing academic discourse surrounding CE, emphasizing its role in addressing global challenges such as resource depletion, climate change, and economic instability. It highlights the transition from the “take-make-dispose” model to a closed-loop system that integrates reuse, remanufacturing, and recycling, ensuring a more sustainable and resilient industrial framework. The study uses bibliometric analysis, with the help of the Biblioshiny software of R studio, to map the academic growth of circular economy research, revealing an exponential increase in scholarly interest since 2017. This research represents key concepts related to the Circular Economy by emphasizing interconnected themes such as sustainable development, recycling, waste management, sustainability, and environmental impact. This paper also provides a glimpse of all the chapters included in this book. This study highlights that integrating Circular Economy principles with Sustainable Development Goals can drive economies toward a low-carbon, resource-efficient, and resilient future, reinforcing the global sustainability agenda. It emphasizes that a circular economy is not only a viable but also a necessary approach to achieving global sustainability goals. Additionally, the study underscores the need for further interdisciplinary research to bridge existing gaps between knowledge and practice in this field.
