AI-Based Smart Irrigation Systems for Water Conservation

Water scarcity and inefficient irrigation practices pose significant challenges to global agriculture, necessitating innovative solutions to optimize water usage. AI-based smart irrigation systems have emerged as a promising approach to enhance water conservation while improving agricultural productivity. This chapter explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) with smart irrigation technologies to develop adaptive and efficient water management strategies. This chapter discusses the importance of water conservation in agriculture and the limitations of traditional irrigation methods. Various AI technologies, including machine learning, IoT networks, and predictive analytics, are examined in the field of irrigation management. AI-driven weather forecasting, soil moisture analysis, and real-time decision-making frameworks are discussed to illustrate their impact on water conservation. A significant study is discussed in this chapter on the role of sensors and data acquisition in AI-based irrigation. Soil moisture sensors, climate monitoring tools, and remote sensing techniques are explored as critical elements for effective irrigation control.
