Global concern about ongoing environmental degradation has prompted action from numerous international institutions. Unplanned, drastic measures to mitigate this issue may hinder modern development and lifestyles due to economic and technological constraints. However, modifying production and consumption patterns is vital to prevent environmental deterioration. The ecological footprint (EF) and biocapacity (BC) are essential metrics for evaluating human impact on ecosystems. Developing precise forecasting models is crucial for monitoring, measuring, and predicting these factors amidst increasing natural resource demand. This study presents a novel approach to forecasting India’s EF and BC through 2034 by adapting data from the Global Footprint Network using Jupyter Notebook. This open-access tool supports the processes, code, data, and visualizations involved in the research. The study meticulously examines each factor influencing India’s EF and BC, projecting a BC of 0.398 ha per person and an EF of 1.4 ha per person by 2034. Additionally, population forecasts indicate India will reach 1.65 billion by 2023. These findings offer valuable insights for policymakers to promote sustainable development and mitigate environmental degradation.
