Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs)
摘要
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) form a class of toxic compounds and many of these compounds are carcinogens. PAHs are commonly present in cigarette smoke but they also can be present on tobacco either by contamination from the environment of from the fire curing process in case of fire-cured tobacco. Analysis of PAHs in cigarette smoke and in several oral tobacco products is described in this chapter. The chapter also presents methods of analysis related to other aspects of PAHs such as the retention of PAHs by the smoker or by the user of moist snuff.
