Volumes I and II of the Handbook of Social Psychology are the first of its kind to examine sociological social psychological theories, concepts, and processes at the micro, meso, and macro levels of society. Although most theory and research in sociological social psychology has been conducted at the micro level, we asked all the contributors in the two volumes to look beyond this analytical level and broaden their area of expertise to include a discussion of meso and macro processes and outcomes. The contributors took their task seriously, and this handbook now presents sociological social psychology with the breadth that not only sociologists will appreciate, but also scholars in other areas, including (but not limited to) psychology, gender, race/ethnicity, and health.
