In Campbell’s monomyth, the main character or characters return to the Ordinary World to wind up the journey that has been mostly experienced in the Special World. This world may be changed, but more often, it is the character or characters that change. This chapter examines the final Campbellian phase by examining what occurs beyond the Special World, on the metaphorical road back. The Return includes what Campbell described as ‘Resurrection’ where the character or characters have mastered both the Ordinary and Special Worlds. The chapter concludes with an analysis of the anomalous picture book Room on our Rock.
