There was a continued stress on entertainment with more fixed points in the schedule. The sensitivity of listeners is amply illustrated, also in the matter of broadcast sport. The chapter illustrates Goebbels’ fervent opposition to a) any cutbacks in transmission time and b) the reintroduction of radio drama. Hans Hinkel attention to detail, as well as his innate anti-Semitism, is illustrated, also in the case of the ban on Lale Anderson. In November Hans Fritzsche was appointed Head of Broadcasting with direct control of the political and propaganda section of the Radio Department. Hans Hinkel remained in charge of the entertainment sector.
