Research on User Experience Design of XR-Enhanced Low-Altitude Business Travel in Smart Cities from the Perspective of Embodied Cognition Theory

In this study, we conducted a comprehensive literature review on the current status of the application of XR technology in low-altitude business travel scenarios. The immersive characteristics of XR technology offer a new solution for low-altitude business travel, effectively enhancing users’ sensory experience and spatial perception. From the perspective of embodied cognition design, the application of XR technology in low-altitude business travel scenarios fully embodies the theoretical requirement of integrating body and mind. By closely integrating the user’s physical experience with the virtual environment, the user’s mental perception is influenced during the physical interaction process, which in turn shapes a richer and deeper experiential cognition of the entire low-altitude business travel. Meanwhile, in terms of multi-sensory feedback, the realistic visual presentation, auditory environment sound matching, and tactile simulation feedback all make the physical space changes of the user’s body, and the psychological cognition of the travel experience corroborate and synergize with each other, which is in line with the direction of user experience design under the theory of embodied cognition. An important finding of this study is that the application of XR technology greatly enhances the user’s sense of participation and immersion, especially in complex low-altitude environments, and this effect is more significant. We also found that XR technology has great potential to enhance user safety, reduce operational errors, and improve the overall travel experience.
