Exploring the Dark Patterns in User Experience Design for Short-Form Videos
摘要
This article delves into the phenomenon of “dark patterns” in user experience design within the short-form video industry, which inadvertently exacerbate adolescents’ over-reliance and addiction to short-form videos. This study focuses on the ubiquitous “dark patterns” found on short-form video platforms in China. Based on the five most common manifestations of these patterns, the analysis examines the interface design, algorithm recommendation logic, and user interaction modes on domestic short-form video platforms, thereby revealing the potential hidden and far-reaching negative impacts on adolescent user groups. Finally, the article proposes that strengthening educational guidance to help adolescents establish healthy media consumption concepts, combined with effective regulatory measures in social practice, is crucial for mitigating and even solving this issue.
