Halal Tourism as a Business Opportunity for Farmers: Strategic Integration to Increase Local Income in Pati Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia

This research aims to explore the potential for halal tourism development in Pati Regency and its impact on increasing farmers’ income and local economic development. By integrating the halal agriculture and tourism sectors, farmers can take advantage of local natural resources and culture to attract Muslim tourists. The results of the study show that Pati Regency has great potential in developing halal tourism, especially in integrating agricultural products such as rice, vegetables, and livestock with halal concepts, The continuous use of traditional agricultural methods by Pati farmers is in line with Islamic principles of sustainability and food security, Pati Regency has the potential for halal-certified agrotourism, and Pati Regency must diversify the economy for the farmers, To achieve this success, several strategic steps are needed. First, halal certification must be expanded and simplified for agricultural products and service s related to tourism. Second, training for farmers on halal farming practices and tourism management should be a priority to ensure that they are ready to face new challenges and opportunities. Finally, effective promotion and marketing, both at the national and international levels, is essential to increase the visibility and attractiveness of Pati halal tourism. The main challenges are the lack of supporting infrastructure, limited awareness of the importance of halal certification, and limited promotion. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach through field studies and interviews with farmers, stakeholders, and business actors in the halal tourism sector.
