The Impact of Green Entrepreneurship on Renewable Energy Adoption in GCC Architecture: Promoting Sustainable and Economic Growth

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region confronts the dual objectives of achieving economic diversification and ensuring environmental sustainability in the face of rapid urbanization. This study investigates the contribution of green entrepreneurship to the integration of renewable energy technologies within the architecture sector across the GCC. Green entrepreneurship is increasingly recognized as a driving force for sustainable practices, with organizations emphasizing sustainability and resilience for long-term viability. As transition economies, the GCC countries are urged to enhance entrepreneurial initiatives that foster economic diversification while reducing environmental impact. Central to this transition is the encouragement of renewable energy, especially in architectural projects where energy consumption in the building sector represents a significant share of global energy usage. Through a comprehensive review of existing literature and policy frameworks, this research illustrates how green entrepreneurs are promoting renewable energy solutions such as solar and wind power, which contribute to a circular economy (CE) that aims to decrease waste and pollution. The findings indicate that these initiatives not only decrease environmental challenges but also align with the World Bank projections that a green growth strategy could raise the GCC’s GDP from $6 trillion to over $13 trillion by 2050. Furthermore, the environmental crisis emphasizes the urgency for widespread implementation of renewable energy in architecture and urban planning. The study concludes by offering policy recommendations to support further green entrepreneurship, thus fostering the development of sustainable and energy-efficient buildings while enhancing economic resilience in the region.
