摘要
This article presents a detailed bibliometric analysis of research on innovation and female entrepreneurship in Africa, addressing significant gaps in the current literature. Analyzing 87 articles published between 1989 and 2023, the study reveals an increasing focus on this field, with a notable peak in publications in 2022. The analysis draws attention to the importance of innovation as a leading factor for entrepreneurial success, especially amongst women who often have additional cultural and economic obstacles that hinder their progression. Some of the efforts that have been made to study in this direction was by institutions like University of Johannesburg and authors such as Madichie N.O. The Country Collaboration map reinforces that research collaborations are global, not just bilateral, operations with South Africa as a kind of central hub. But the MENA region is still underrepresented despite the increase of women entrepreneurs in North Africa. This study lists the most important research topics, trends and gaps in our knowledge culminate, that can be used as a heuristic for future work. In the other hand this research recognizes some limitations such as the exclusion of studies non-indexed sources. Finally, our contribution is to make a better understanding of female entrepreneurship and the link with innovation in Africa, providing essential insights for policy development and strategic interventions.
