This study explores the entrepreneurial intentions of pre-retirees in Oman, focusing on their motivations and the challenges they face in pursuing business ventures post-retirement. As Oman continues to diversify its economy beyond oil and gas, understanding the potential of pre-retirees as entrepreneurs becomes increasingly important. A survey of 157 respondents was conducted to assess the impact of demographic factors such as age, gender, education, and income on entrepreneurial intentions. The results indicate that pre-retirees are primarily motivated by the desire for financial independence and personal fulfillment, reflecting a broader trend where pre-retirees seek to remain economically active post-retirement. Notably, women showed higher levels of interest in entrepreneurship than men, suggesting that factors such as personal fulfillment and flexibility may drive their entrepreneurial intentions. However, significant barriers, including a lack of business experience and financial resources, were identified. The findings underscore the need for targeted support and training programs to harness the entrepreneurial potential of pre-retirees in Oman, thereby contributing to the nation’s economic diversification goals.
