Temperature, zonal wind and ozone perturbations in the polar stratosphere in the Arctic winter of 2019–2020 as measured by Aura MLS and MERRA reanalysis are considered. The polar vortex, accompanied by the record ozone loss, was the strongest in the 45-year period of observations. Formation of the vortex began after an abrupt disruption of the upper stratospheric warming in early January. The warming and ozone depletion were observed first in the eastern hemisphere, while the deepest hole in March was formed in the opposite longitudes. Signatures of zonal asymmetry appeared in surface temperature.

摘要
