In 2023, Quaternary tectonic deformations were studied in the Jumgal district in the central part of the Kyrgyz Republic and where interpreted as evidence for large past earthquakes. They include surface rupture visible in a quarry near the Chaek town and traced of the tectonic damming along the northern boundary of the Chaek uplift that evolve along the central part of the depression.
