In the context of a society that begins to develop the decision-making process based on the concept of Big Data, the research aims to analyze the concept of urban metabolism and identify structural differences between urban development in Western Europe, Eastern Europe and North Africa. In order to achieve a high level of relevance and consistency of research results, satellite data were extracted, using GIS technology, for the urban centers that form the research sample, a factor that constitutes one of the elements of originality of the research. Thus, the research objectives will be achieved by using machine learning techniques, more precisely based on the use of data dimensionality reduction methods, but also other unsupervised learning methods. By achieving the objectives of this paper, it offers a perspective for sustainable urban development through the development of international policies and partnerships and, implicitly, will lead to strengthening the partnership between Europe and North Africa for sustainable economic development.
