Aquaculture, a fast-growing food industry, has a promising role in enhancing global food security and resilience as well as the well-being and livelihood of the community. Therefore, aquaculture is becoming popular among diverse stakeholders, including governments, investors, and communities across the globe. Initially, the key purposes of aquaculture were to ensure food security as well as seed and bait production for stock enhancement programs and sports fishing, respectively. No proper focus was given to reducing our dependence on capture fisheries, and there are regions where capture fisheries are still a priority. The impact of increasing pressure on capture fisheries or aquaculture activities on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems has been somehow neglected. Greenhouse gas emissions and waste production in aquatic and terrestrial food-producing systems are continuously disturbing the natural balance on the planet earth by contributing to global warming. This has led to climate change, which has both direct and indirect effects on wild and cultured resources (aquatic organisms and their habitats). This climate change is affecting the dispersal and yield of aquatic species, altering biological processes, and ultimately the food webs. The implications of such changes for the sustainability of ecosystems, aquaculture, and the community are indeterminate. Currently, efforts are in practice to promote sustainable and healthy aquaculture by considering economic, environmental, and community sustainability. We have tried to lengthily elaborate on the potential role of sustainable and healthy aquaculture in global food security as well as its effects on human health, the environment, and community dimensions. The execution of the potential management and nutritional strategies and innovative solutions discussed hereby in true spirit by aquaculturists could help us acquire enhanced optimization of aquaculture performance in terms of economic, environmental, and community sustainability in the long run.
