This chapter provides readers with an overview of the psychosocial nuances surrounding the intersections of LGBTQ+ identity and disability, offering practical insights for mental health professionals primed to provide affirmative psychological care. Recognizing the scarcity of empirical research on LGBTQ+ individuals with disabilities, we have intentionally drawn from the existing body of scholarship that examines the lives and psychosocial needs of this population. In this chapter, we focus on two distinct case examples that reveal the diversity of psychological care and practice that can be applied with LGBTQ+ persons with disabilities. We provide these case studies as a means of demonstrating clinical decision-making heuristics and clinical practices grounded in psychological theory and evidence.
