The methodology adopted to establish a practical approach to breast ptosis is described. It presents a scale going from the first to the fourth degrees of ptosis, basically the four fingers of the human hand. The basic parameters used were the submammary sulcus, the cutting edge of the lower contour of the breast, and the hand of the patient or the surgeon. Thus, the graduation of breast ptosis not only can be observed but can essentially be experienced. The authors believe that preoperative planning and communication are much more facilitated in this way, given the simplicity and the practicality of the method.
