In this chapter, we consider 12 quotations that are centred around various aspects of self-care in the hope that it may help readers to reflect upon their overall capacity to cope and manage their thoughts and feelings as they navigate their career in the intensive care environment. We talk about personal capacity, coping strategies and the sense of responsibility which is felt. We also explore difficulties experienced over the course of one’s career including the likelihood of dealing with errors and mistakes and the possibility of litigation.
