Exploring the Layout and Interaction Requirements of Multi-screen Interfaces in In-Vehicle Infotainment Systems for Electric Vehicles Using IPA and Kano Models

The global automotive industry is undergoing the transformation of electrification, and electric vehicles will become the main direction of the future development of the automotive industry, and at the same time will increase the demand for the use of intelligent cockpits. Large-screen and multi-screen in-vehicle displays are already one of the core focuses of smart cockpit development. However, the design of multi-screen in-vehicle displays will also lead to problems such as information overload. Users need to shift their attention when operating touch panels, which not only increases the need for sight shifting, but also requires more time for panel operation. Therefore, this study will investigate the user needs of different experience groups on the design of in-vehicle multi-screen interfaces, and analyze the importance, satisfaction, and service quality of in-vehicle multi-screen designs through IPA and KANO models. The study contributes to the generalization of user requirements for in-vehicle multi-screen design through the analysis results and provides suggestions for future in-vehicle infotainment system multi-screen design for EVs.
