After years of effort, the first Space Launch System completes assembly in the VAB and is moved to Launch Complex 39-B in preparation for the unmanned Artemis I mission to the Moon. The trajectory to the Moon, the complex retrograde lunar orbit, and the return to Earth of the spacecraft are plotted using the Copernicus software program. The Artemis I mission goals to flight validate the SLS demonstrate ground and mission operations, complete the retrograde orbit of the Moon by the Orion spacecraft, return the spacecraft to Earth, validate Orion’s heatshield, and recover the spacecraft from the landing site in the Pacific Ocean.

摘要
