Design of Triple-Play Broadband Service in FTTH Networks Based on GPON for High Andean Tourist Area of Taraco – Puno - Peru

Taraco is a high plateau area that is not immune to the digital divide, and therefore the fiber optic connection mainly benefits the education and health sectors. The study focuses on FTTH networks with GPON architecture, using a quantitative method for determining the optical power budget and non-probabilistic sampling. Data is gathered through fieldwork, bibliographic sources, and processed using tools like AutoCAD, Google Earth, and ARC Map 10.8. The design covers 620 potential subscribers, offering high-speed Internet (38–78 Mbps), IP telephony, and high-definition IPTV services (Triple Play). In order to create the design, the potential demand is calculated, and the network’s fittings and components are inspected in accordance with ITU-T standards. In the tourist area to the north, the network utilizes a two-level splitter with a 1:32 ratio, providing a total bandwidth of 78 Mbps. This bandwidth is allocated as follows: IPTV services: 40 Mbps; Telephony: 100 Kbps; and Internet: 38 Mbps. Interoperability and scalability are guaranteed by the ITU-T regulations, and the optical budget calculation ensures that the planned network can deliver the triple play package. The optical power budget values shown in the tables are within the allowable range (−28 dBm to −8 dBm). The expected impact on the quality of service for users is satisfactory because the triple play service will be accessible with a bandwidth of 78 Mbps. This ensures that the optical signal received by the OLT will be within operational limits, thus ensuring the functionality and reliability of the GPON network design.
